Wrap-up – Illinois HomeCare & Hospice Council’s Annual Conference 2020

The Illinois HomeCare & Hospice Council hosted its 2020 Annual Conference, “Focus on the Future”, between March 3-4 in Lombard, IL. The conference convened hundreds of leaders & experts in Home Healthcare, registered nurses, and medical practitioners to discuss the current state of home care, share the latest information in the field of home care, enable market participants to network and serve the patients better through calibration.

IHHC Annual Conference

As the single most comprehensive conference in the Illinois region, this year’s conference featured many panel discussions, educational sessions and keynote presentations to help the participants network, learn from each other and discover ways to adapt to the changes in the home healthcare space.

Session on Patient-Driven Grouping model

The conference opened with an education session on the Patient-Driven Grouping Model and how it impacts business operations when compared to the PPS model. The session focused on the removal of therapy visit volumes form the payment mechanism and discussed how by replacing therapy funding with an acuity-based therapy model, Medicare is transitioning to an entirely new rehab delivery mechanism.

This year the session outlined all the regulatory and reimbursement changes in 2020.  Federal and State actions ranging from PDGM and RCD to fair scheduling and the minimum wage-- and everything in between (COP alignment, dementia training, advanced directives, licensure, burden reduction, rural add-on, and more) were discussed in the session.
